Kids' Clothing Size Conversion Chart (0-7 Years)

Children's clothing is sized mostly by height outside the US. Europe, Korea and Japan label garments 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, meaning the child's height in centimetres. The US uses months for babies (3M, 6M, 12M, 24M), then 2T to 5T for toddlers and 4 to 7 for young children. A US 4T fits around 100 to 105 cm height, which is EU 104, KR 100 and JP 100.

Because the height-based systems are so direct, the easiest method is to measure your child standing against a wall and shop by centimetres. Add 5 cm if you want the piece to last a season. Brands do vary: Zara Kids and H&M run close to stated height, Uniqlo and Korean brands slightly slim, while Carter's and Gap run roomy. The chart also lists chest and waist so you can check pieces that fit by width, like jackets and trousers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does US 4T mean and how does it differ from size 4?

4T is a toddler cut for children about 99 to 107 cm tall with room for a diaper and a shorter torso. Size 4 fits a similar height but is slimmer in the seat. Both correspond to EU 104 and KR/JP 100 to 110.

What size is a Korean 110 in US kids' sizes?

Korean 110 is for a child around 110 cm tall, typically ages 4 to 5, which is US 5 to 5T, UK 4 to 5 years, EU 110 and Japanese 110.

How do European kids' sizes like 92 or 98 work?

They are height in cm in 6 cm steps: 80, 86, 92, 98, 104, 110, 116, 122. A child measuring 95 cm wears 98. US equivalents are 18M for 86, 2T for 92, 3T for 98, 4T for 104.

How fast will my child outgrow a size?

Between ages 1 and 7, children grow about 6 to 8 cm per year, so one height-based size lasts roughly 9 to 12 months. Babies under 1 move up a size every 3 months.
